Starry Night Keyring
Crafted by refugees from Ethiopia, Sudan and internally displaced South Sudanese
This keychain showcases a meticulous bead weaving technique. A small loom is used to secure the vertical warp threads, as the weft threads holding beads are woven across. The beads are counted, and placed precisely, to create a textured pattern. Women who are not educated often learn some numeracy skills through counting beads. The outcome is a durable, beautiful piece that preserves traditional skills, and tells a story of positive impact for refugee and internally displaced women.
