Crafted by internally displaced South Sudanese, and Sudanese and Ethiopian refugees living in South Sudan
Elegant in form and rich in meaning, this long single-strand beaded necklace is a quiet masterpiece of South Sudanese craftsmanship. Hand-beaded by refugees and internally displaced women in the Juba and Gorom camps in South Sudan, the necklace features an oval-shaped beaded centerpiece, anchored by delicate beaded tassels at each end. With its generous length, it can be styled in multiple ways, wrapped once or twice around the neck, or even worn as a waist belt or bracelet. Stack them to make a bold statement.
South Sudanese beadwork is an art form rooted in both function and symbolism. For generations, beads have been used in rituals, celebrations, and daily adornment. They are expressions of beauty, but also of patience, memory, and community.
