Crafted by internally displaced South Sudanese, and Sudanese and Ethiopian refugees living in South Sudan
A bold statement of artistry and cultural heritage, this hand-beaded scarf necklace is a stunning example of traditional South Sudanese craftsmanship reimagined as wearable art. Handmade by refugees and internally displaced women in the Juba and Gorom camps in South Sudan, each piece is meticulously crafted bead by bead to create a unique tartan-inspired plaid showcasing a visual rhythm that evokes both classic style and deep-rooted tradition.
In South Sudanese culture, beads are more than decoration, they are carriers of identity, memory, and expression. In communities throughout South Sudan, especially among women, beadwork is a shared language, a tradition passed through hands and generations, representing resilience, creativity, and connection.
