Desert Moon
Crafted by Tuareg refugees from Mali living in Niger
For the Tuareg, the moon is a symbol of protection and prosperity. The Tuareg are a nomadic population that historically travelled across the Sahel region with their animal herds. In their culture, artisans belong to a heredity caste which includes blacksmiths, leatherworkers, and jewellers. They are artisans at birth, with their own dialect and myths related to their skills and tools. Much of their craftsmanship reflects their ability to thrive in the desert.
